Update 01/2023: The result of this event has been a response to the Welsh Government Sustainable Farming Scheme consultation, you can find it attached below.

We would like to thank all attendees for their participation.

 Video presentation of the event on the sustainable farming scheme (English/Cymraeg):

With some of my research colleagues we will be running an event on the future scheme trying to extract the main challenges and opportunities to feed it back into the scheme development – as independant researchers-, I invite you to the event which will be another opportunity to discover and discuss the scheme. It will be a panel discussion, a panel of 4 with trying to get a sector-wide view of those;

  • Prof Janet Dwyer, Countryside and Community Research Institute – With a wide UK and EU experience in policy making
  • Geraint Davies, Farmer and member of National Resource Wales Board
  • Geraint Jones, Technical Woodland officer for Farming & Forestry Connect at Menter a Busnes
  • Dr Sophie Wynne-Jones, Policy Fellow, Welsh Government and Lecturer at Bangor University

The event will include a panel discussion, Q&As and a Jamboard session, and is a great opportunity to share views and ideas on the future of farming in Wales ahead of the Welsh Government consultation deadline on 31st October. The event will be held online on zoom on the 26th of October from 12:30 to 14:30 you can register by clicking on the link below.

This event is not sponsored by the Welsh Government and anyone is welcome to join. We have at heart to ensure we have a constructive, informative discussion to feed back in the Welsh Government consultation on the scheme.

We aim at answering the following questions:

  • Are the Welsh Agricultural Policy goals attainable / what further support is needed in achieving these goals?
  • Is the universal / optional / collaborative framework feasible?
  • What is missing from the Welsh Agricultural Policy / what are the main barriers we may face in implementing the scheme?

We will try to provide a recording of this event to make it available to all. For any additional information feel free to contact me directly: tlenormand@glos.ac.uk. 06/10/2022
